Click on "profile" at the top of the page. Scroll to "personalized picture" and select an avatar from the list. Just click on the avatar you want. This will be displayed on all your posts.
If you want a custom avatar, you'll have to save it on your own website or on an image hosting website then insert the url for where that image is saved on the line provided for that under "I have my own pic." Be sure to check the box next to "I have my own pic" if you are using your own avatar image.

I'm a bit of a Hello Kitty fan, although it was my interest in Tarot decks and finding a copy of "Hello, Tarot!" which is a Tarot Deck using Hello Kitty characters, that got my interest.

I've never seen hello tarot cards. I've been into tarot on and off for years, haven't really had time for it since my daughter was born. There sure is a ton of hello kitty stuff out there now though. I loved it as a kid (that and little twin stars) and it's very fun to see my daughter into it now.

Uh, Kathryn, the bad news is you're stealing bandwidth from the site where you copied the link. Essentially, you're stealing space the other site is paying for because every time your avatar is used, that little kitty is coming from their website. Am I explaining this so it makes sense?
Just copy the hello kitty avatar to a file on your computer, sign up at one of the free image hosting sites I posted, upload it there and then copy that url.

Makes complete sense Diane, and I joined myimgs and fixed this right away. I'd completely forgotten about he bandwidth thing. Can I delete my thoughtless post so others don't follow suit? Never mind, I just realized - YES I CAN! Done.

I don't think we need it, Kathryn. See the little box across the top with ads? It would get rid of that. I don't think it's that intrusive and no, it wouldn't give us a lot more space.
If we get to the point where we have as much traffic here as we have on the yahoo list we might want to consider a paid board. But I don't think we need it now.

If you'd like to use your personal photo as avatar, as I see one member has already done, it's pretty easy.
Take the photo of you, your dog, your hotrod car or whatever. Either shoot a very tight shot or use photo software to crop it to a tight shot. The photo will be so small, if you don't to this no one will be able to make it out.
Save the new version of the photo on your computer - my photos for example. Then follow the directions above to upload it to an image host an insert it as your avatar here.

When you're in the profile section, just click on the name of the avatar you want to see. Be sure to click on the title of your old one to set it back if you don't like the new one.

How do we preview the avatar? I had trouble with Avatars not showing up to preview also, I just clicked on down the line and then when it worked, the ones back up the line seemed to work. Go figure!
