We're getting a lot of membership requests from people who are apparently not reading the directions below on how to join, how to log on, etc. You need to read the directions. It will make becoming a member a lot faster and easier.
IF YOU REGISTER BEFORE REQUESTING AND BEING APPROVED FOR MEMBERSHIP YOUR REGISTRATION WILL BE DELETED Sorry for yelling but a lot of people are ignoring the notice on this on the front page. No, this doesn't apply to everyone except you because you don't want to take the time to read these instructions.
IF YOU HAVE AOL OR HOTMAIL EMAIL, PLEASE READ THE POSTS BELOW THIS ONE.
TO JOIN:
Note this site is for spouses and partners of those with ADD, not those with ADD themselves or with family members with ADD.
1. Members need two passwords to have access to the private forums. To request membership, send an email to addspouse-owner (insert @ symbol) yahoogroups.com giving us some information on your circumstances so we can determine if you qualify for membership.
This can be brief but we need some details. Don't just send an email saying, "My spouse has ADD." We also need to know what username you plan to use.
(I have had to alter the email address above to hide it from spammers. Just remove the spaces and add in an @ symbol.)
2. Once you receive the email approving your membership from Beth or Diane, you can register. DON'T REGISTER MORE THAN ONCE.
We don't make email addresses public - you can select to keep your email address private during registration. Please don't register until your membership has been approved. If you do, your registration will be denied. Please register within 48 hours of being approved.
To ensure your privacy, please select a username that doesn't reveal your real name. Don't set your computer to automatically log in when you visit the board and please log out when you're done. Keep your passwords in a very safe place.
You will receive two emails containing two passwords. The first is your main log in password from Proboards. The second will be from one of the moderators and contains the password that is used only to access the private forums.
You will also receive an email from Proboards containing an activation code to activate your registration. You need to make sure your ISP or your personal spam blocker aren't blocking these emails. See other posts on this issue in this forum for more info.
Once you're registered, your registration won't be valid until approved by a moderator. If there's a long delay, simply send an email to the address above letting us know you're waiting for your registration to be approved.
Your message, all or part, will also be posted in the private Nitty Gritty forum as an introduction to the group with whatever name you provide in your email. No one will be able to see this except approved members. Be sure to include the username you wish to use.
Anyone can read in the public forums.
Many of us with ADD partners face some pretty gritty, sometimes embarrassing or even dangerous issues such as verbal and physical abuse, financial catastrophes, sexual problems.
In order to give members a safe haven where those tough issues can be frankly discussed, some of the forums on this board are private, available only to approved members.
This is is for ADD partners only, not for those with ADD. For that reason, we ask that new members tell us a little about their situation before gaining access to the private boards.
